MONROE, Mich. (September
23, 2010) – For the families of ill and injured children staying at a Ronald McDonald
House®, the comforts of home bring a sense of normalcy during a time that’s anything
but normal. With the help of La-Z-Boy, the new 20-room
West County Ronald McDonald House® will serve as a comfortable home-away-from-home
for these families at a time when they need it most. Five La-Z-Boy
Furniture Galleries® stores in the St. Louis area have donated beautiful furniture including
sofas, chairs, tables and more to completely furnish the library in the House, making
the West County Ronald McDonald House feel more like home. The West County Ronald
McDonald House location will be the 300th Ronald McDonald House in the world.
“The West County Ronald McDonald House will provide families of ill and injured
children a wonderful place of rest during tough times,” said Keith Medlin, market
sales manager of the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores
in the St. Louis area. “We are so pleased to support
Ronald McDonald House Charities as they celebrate the opening of their 300th
House. These Houses provide such an important calm and supportive environment for
families in need.”
Among La-Z-Boy products
donated to the West County Ronald McDonald House were the company’s comfortable
“Metro” sofas, a “Madison” chair and multiple wood accent pieces.
“We are thrilled to have a library filled with comfortable La-Z-Boy
furniture that will make our families feel at home the moment they arrive,” said
Dan Harbaugh, president of Ronald
McDonald House Charities of Metro St. Louis®. “With La-Z-Boy's
support, we will be able to offer a supportive environment for families so they
can focus on the health of their children.”
In addition to the furniture donation, employees of the La-Z-Boy
Furniture Galleries in the
St. Louis area will carry on their tradition of serving dinner to residents
at one of the three local Ronald McDonald Houses once a month, donating about 30
hours a month to the charity. The stores also will donate La-Z-Boy
Comfort Bears stuffed animals to the new house to offer added comfort.
