HIGH POINT, N.C. (Oct. 15, 2010) It’s the end of a long day, your muscles ache,
and all you want is a relaxing massage. Do you drive to the nearest spa? Beg your
significant other to get those fingers ready? Or, do you stroll into your living
room and…sit down in your La-Z-Boy
recliner? The latter is now possible as La-Z-Boy takes
comfort one step further by introducing the “McAlister” Shiatsu-style
massage recliner at the October 2010
High Point Furniture Market in High Point, N.C.
“McAlister” capitalizes on the growing popularity of Shiatsu-style
recliners, which feature a rolling, kneading massage in the back of the chair –
however, the recliner also offers superior comfort even without the massage function.
In addition, “McAlister” provides the additional benefit of style with a look that
is very similar to traditional recliners, ensuring that the recliner will not look
out of place with other furniture
in the living room.
“Our customers look to La-Z-Boy to provide the ultimate
in comfort, and the deep massage option offered by ‘McAlister’ adds an extra element
of relaxation,” said Paula Hoyas, vice president of merchandising for
La-Z-Boy. “The
Shiatsu massage feature is the perfect accompaniment to the comfort
of sitting in a reclining position, which is supported by doctors as a way to promote
relaxation*.”
“McAlister” features the traditional handle construction for which
La-Z-Boy reclining furniture is known and offers different locking positions
for multiple reclining angles. The recliner also features a pad attached at the
top of the seat that, when flipped to the front, softens the massage’s intensity.
For a more powerful sensation, the pad can be flipped to the back of the seat to
allow the user more direct contact with the massaging mechanisms.
“We are excited to add ‘McAlister’ to our already impressive line of power recliners,”
said Hoyas. “And because it was designed with both comfort and style in mind, ‘McAlister’
will be compatible with a variety of décors.”
Powering-Up Other Furniture Introductions
In addition to “McAlister,” La-Z-Boy is expanding its
line of power
recliners with varying sizes. “Journey” offers the ease and luxury of this
popular function in a style suited to petite consumers. On the other end of the
spectrum, “Spectra” features a contemporary design and a larger scale. “Axis” rounds
out the line by offering a classic design with the comfort and luxury of a power
recliner.
“We know that our customers desire customizable power options that offer ease of
use, and we are excited to offer several sizes and styles of recliners with power
features,” said Hoyas. “These new introductions serve as great additions to our
vast array of motion furniture offerings.”
