I don't typically submit reviews unless something has significantly impressed me (either good or bad). This product left a very good impression and I wanted to let others know that.
I had never seen a lift-top table before this one, and it really intrigued me. As a cocktail table, it's a good size for in front of a sofa -- long enough to serve the whole sofa and not so deep that I can't easily reach items on the far side of the table. The finish is a good mix of fancy and rustic; it's dark enough that it looks rich but the weathered aspect to the finish keeps it from appearing too fancy. And the intentional "nicks" in the finish mean that scratches and "boo boos" don't show up as obviously as with some other finishes.
The lift top was perfect for us because we didn't have a dining room table at the time, and, in the lifted position, it's a good height for sitting on the sofa and eating at the table. We still eat there often even though we now have a dining room set. It's also a good height for a laptop computer. The top is easy to lift and set down; it goes up and down smoothly -- no spurts or sudden drops -- and stays in place in its "up" position.
We have had the table for about two years now. We still love it, are thoroughly happy that we got it, and have recommended it to others.
